The Armed Forces Nursing Service (AFNS) is a joint branch of the Armed Forces of Pakistan. AFNS Intelligence Test is an essential part of the selection process. This test is taken in order to screen out candidates, as in other Army Tests. I have gathered some information for you for better understanding and also 500+ MCQs for AFNS intelligence test. Eligibility Criteria:
To join AFNS, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be unmarried female citizens of Pakistan or domicile holders of Azad Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan.
- Age: For BSc Nursing candidates, the age limit is 17 to 25 years.
- Educational Qualifications:
- For BSc Nursing: Completion of FSc (Pre-Medical) with at least 50% marks.
- For Trained Nurses: Must possess a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.
- Physical Standards:
- Minimum height of 5 feet (152 cm).
- Medically fit as per the standards set by the Pakistan Army.
Test Structure
- Total Questions: 84
- Time Limit: 30 minutes (approximately 21 seconds per question).
- Passing Marks: 50% (minimum of 42 correct answers to qualify).
- Format: Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) divided into two main categories:
- Verbal Intelligence
- Non-Verbal Intelligence
1. Verbal Intelligence Questions
Verbal intelligence focuses on logical reasoning using words and numbers. It evaluates the ability to analyze, identify patterns, and solve problems in a textual or numerical format. Common topics include:
- Analogies: Identifying the relationship between pairs of words.
- Example: Doctor is to Hospital as Teacher is to ___?

- Series Completion: Identifying the next element in a sequence.
- Numerical Example: 2, 4, 6, 8, ___? (Answer: 10)

- Odd-One-Out: Determining the element that does not belong to a group.
- Example: Apple, Mango, Banana, Chair
- (Answer: Chair, as it is not a fruit.)
- Example: Apple, Mango, Banana, Chair
- Coding and Decoding: Interpreting patterns, codes, or rules.
- Example: If CAT is coded as 3120, what is DOG?
- (Answer: 4157)
- Example: If CAT is coded as 3120, what is DOG?
- Logical Statements: Drawing conclusions based on provided information.
- Example:
- Premises: All birds can fly. Penguins are birds.
- Question: Can penguins fly? (Answer: No.)
- Example:
- Word Relationships: Finding synonyms, antonyms, or logical connections.
- Example: What is the opposite of “Expand”?
- (Answer: Contract)
- Example: What is the opposite of “Expand”?
- Mathematical Reasoning: Simple arithmetic questions to test logical thinking.
- Example: If 25% of a number is 50, what is the number? (Answer: 200)
2. Non-Verbal Intelligence Questions
Non-verbal intelligence involves solving problems based on visual information, such as patterns and shapes. It measures spatial and abstract reasoning skills.
- Pattern Recognition: Identifying the next image in a series by recognizing changes or repetitions.
- Example: A circle, triangle, and square repeat in a sequence. What comes next?
- Odd-One-Out (Non-Verbal): Identifying the figure that does not belong to the group.
- Example: A set of triangles, with one square included.
- Mirror Images: Determining how a shape appears in its reflection.
- Example: A triangle pointing up appears pointing down in its mirror image.
- Completion of Figures: Finding the missing piece to complete a pattern or design.
- Example: A square is missing one side; choose the correct image to complete it.
- Embedded Figures: Identifying smaller shapes hidden within complex images.
- Example: Spot the triangle within a star pattern.
- Cubes and Dices: Visualizing how a cube or dice looks when folded or rotated.
- Example: Which face is opposite the star on a given cube diagram?

Scoring and Passing Criteria
- A score of 50% or above (minimum 42 correct answers) is required to pass.
- Typically, there is no negative marking, so attempt all questions to maximize your score.
